About the Role

The Maureen & Craig Sullivan Youth & Family Services Center serves as a vibrant hub for children, youth, families, and older adults, fostering learning, connection, and meaningful relationships through diverse programming. The Center aims to reduce social isolation among older adults, strengthen family connections, promote youth development, and cultivate a thriving, inclusive intergenerational community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate a diverse calendar of educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programs.
  • Create engaging opportunities that promote social connection, lifelong learning, family engagement, and resident well-being.
  • Develop and implement daily and weekly activities and tasks calendars for families.
  • Assist in the development of parenting skills through workshops, support groups, and presentations.
  • Plan and implement intergenerational programming.
  • Coordinate tutoring, homework assistance, workforce readiness workshops, resume development, digital literacy, and financial literacy activities.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized activity areas.
  • Coordinate participant transportation.
  • Coordinate special events, seasonal celebrations, health fairs, educational workshops, and community-building activities.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive manner.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager, Site Manager, and Case Managers on needed resources and activities.
  • Attend meetings and training programs.
  • Accurate and timely data entry for Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) reporting and case record reviews.
  • Accurate and timely submission of case records.
  • Serve on a quarterly case record review committee for PQI reporting.
  • Serve on department or program PQI Committee responsible for monitoring goals and reporting.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive manner.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager, Site Manager, and Case Managers on needed resources and activities.
  • Attend meetings and training programs.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, and walking.
  • Frequent repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • May include contact with clients with mental health issues.
  • Occasionally exposed to cleaning products.
  • Occasionally exposed to perfume or scents in personal care products.
  • Regularly exposed to arts and crafts supplies that may contain an odor.
  • Occasionally exposed to latex, bleach solution, cigarette smoke, and animals for pet therapy projects.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • Subject to noise: Moderate to excessive noise level.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.
  • Work environment includes traveling using various modes of transportation.
  • Fingerprints required.
  • Negative Tuberculosis Test required.
  • First Aid Certificate required.
  • COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination required.

  • Knowledge of mandatory reporting requirements for people working with children.
  • Knowledge and experience in areas of arts and crafts, music, poetry, cooking, exercises, gardening, etc.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Second language skills in Mandarin/Cantonese, or Spanish highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in cross-cultural situations.

  • The Maureen & Craig Sullivan Youth & Family Services Center is centrally located between the 10th & Mission Family Housing and the Edith Witt Senior Community, providing direct access to the shared community courtyard.
