About the Role

Provide clerical and receptionist support for the Youth and Family Division, greeting the public in person and over the phone, responding to questions, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area.

Responsibilities

  • Greet the public in person and over the phone.
  • Respond to patron concerns and questions.
  • Transfer calls or take messages for other staff members.
  • Provide information and referrals to the public.
  • Create and print flyers describing current programs.
  • Update and maintain current programs' literature/brochures.
  • Keep the reception area clean and organized.
  • Ensure accurate and current information/pamphlets are available at the reception area.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere within the reception area.
  • Accept admission and/or Youth registration.
  • Check out sports equipment or other equipment to patrons.
  • Assist with preparation, setup, and takedown of events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Formal training in secretarial, customer services, public relations, or a related field.
  • One year of paid work experience performing cashier and/or receptionist functions.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, employees, supervisors, and the general public under adverse circumstances.
  • Working knowledge of computers and standard office machines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and make minor decisions in accordance with City ordinances, departmental policy, and established operational procedures.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
