About the Role

Perfect for night-shift workers who want to make a difference. Support individuals impacted by domestic violence by ensuring safety, stability, and compassionate care during critical overnight hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the safety, security, and smooth overnight functioning of the Domestic Violence Emergency Residence
• Follow all program policies, routines, and procedures
• Provide light cleaning and upkeep of the shelter as needed
• Answer phone calls, including the Unity House Domestic Violence Hotline
• Assist with calls from the NYS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/PREA Hotlines when needed
• Build rapport with residents using trauma-informed and victim-centered approaches
• Provide crisis intervention and support during overnight needs and emergencies
• Complete timely and accurate reports and documentation
• Contribute to an environment of inclusion, dignity, and belonging

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required
• 1–2 years prior experience working with victims of domestic violence or similar vulnerable populations
• Reliable transportation required
• Valid NYS driver’s license required

Skills

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills must be used daily as part of the role
