About the Role

The Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) division ensures the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in New York City. The Office of Livable Streets (OLS) focuses on strategic planning, community engagement, and policy to create livable streets that support safety, accessibility, and economic vitality. The Cycling & Micromobility Unit, responsible for the city's extensive bike network, seeks a Program Coordinator to support the launch and implementation of the Secure Bike Program (SBP), which will install 500 secure bike parking facilities across the city over the next five years.

Responsibilities

Identify technically viable locations for SBP installation through field investigations and site evaluations.
Review installation plans for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Maintain and manage accurate databases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Develop data collection protocols.
Assist with performance reporting.
Oversee pre-installation notifications and post-installation inspections and reporting.
Create maps using ArcGIS.
Produce presentations and outreach materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Liaise with internal divisions, sister agencies, and community stakeholders to facilitate installations and activations.
Support public education and engagement efforts related to program goals and facility types.
Respond to inquiries and support communication efforts related to SBP.
Perform additional planning, analysis, and operational tasks related to the implementation and ongoing management of the Secure Bike Program.

Requirements

Must be serving permanently in the title of City Planner, or be reachable on the civil service list.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning.
Graduate education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience.
All candidates must have a baccalaureate degree.
For Assignment Level III, one additional year of professional experience is required.
For Assignment Level IV, two additional years of professional experience is required.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative professional.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to conduct fieldwork year-round.
Willingness to travel by bicycle, on foot, or via public transit.
