About the Role

Empire Life is seeking a Senior Project Manager for a 12-month contract to manage projects from initiation to close-out, working with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables that support desired business objectives.
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements.
  • Work closely with resource managers to acquire necessary project resources and assign tasks.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to the project team.
  • Create and manage project budget; track and report project expenses.
  • Schedule and track project timelines and milestones.
  • Develop project plans and other communication documents.
  • Monitor and report on project progress to all stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve project issues, escalating larger issues to stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Apply project management methodology, processes, and standards.
  • Manage changes to project scope, budget, or timelines following change control guidelines.
  • Define project success criteria and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Conduct post-implementation project reviews.

Requirements

  • Advanced expertise in managing large, complex, business transformation and/or IT projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive project management experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise of Project Management methodologies and development practices (e.g., agile, scrum, waterfall).
  • Familiarity with tools such as Smartsheets, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Conversant in different platforms, architectures, languages, and modern development toolkits.
  • Proven track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to drive and influence change through innovation and process improvement.
  • Substantial experience building and developing relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated experience leading discussions and working effectively with senior leaders.
  • Self-motivated with resilience to work independently, manage priorities, and guide plans.
  • Previous consulting experience and/or proven engagement skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • A University degree or college diploma in Business, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • English language proficiency is required for communication across Canada.
