About the Role

Empire Life is seeking an Intermediate Investment Monitoring & Reporting Analyst to join the Investment Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, deliver excellent service, and contribute with a fresh perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive procedural documentation, job aids, and internal control documentation for investment monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of investment policy limits and measuring against regulatory and investment guideline limits.
  • Program, maintain, and test investment monitoring rules within trade order management and investment administration systems, as well as offline tools.
  • Support stakeholders by providing analytical insights on investment monitoring rules, warnings, and violations.
  • Prepare and support regulatory filings and generate investment restriction monitoring reports.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and preparation of financial, management, and Board reports on investment activity.
  • Execute analytical reviews of investment results to validate reported figures.
  • Participate in the rationalization of programmed reports and support their programming, maintenance, and testing.
  • Support the maintenance of a system of controls over programmed reports.
  • Provide support for investment data requirements, broker relationships, and market openings.
  • Maintain a document repository of relevant agreements and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with third-party service providers and vendors.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining business continuity plans for Investment Monitoring and Reporting activities.
  • Share knowledge and coach peers and team members on relevant policies, procedures, and concepts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and proposing process enhancements for efficiency and operational controls.

Requirements

  • Understanding of investment monitoring principles, regulatory limits, and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in reconciliation controls and data integrity best practices.
  • Familiarity with investment systems and databases, including programming and reporting functionalities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant investment experience at a financial institution.
  • Experience working in an investment compliance function or team is a differentiating asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining detailed procedural documentation.
  • Proven ability to work with and analyze large, complex datasets.
  • Experience in identifying and/or implementing process improvements.
  • Prior experience in programming and testing investment compliance rules and/or investment-related reports within financial systems is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new systems and team structures.
  • English language proficiency required for communication across Canada.

Salary/Compensations

  • $79,200 - $126,500 (Total Target Compensation including salary and target bonus)
