About the Role
The economist's primary function is to provide analysis on Micro and Macro trends to inform strategic decisions, focusing on mortgage and housing related topics. The role requires effective summarization and presentation of findings, insight into potential improvements to mortgage modeling, economic scenario simulation, cost of capital modeling, economic capital, and risk appetite.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing metro housing and employment measures and predicting future conditions.
- Researching potential improvements to models, economic capital, and portfolio optimization.
- Development and maintenance of metro level fundamental home price valuation, market home price valuation and unemployment econometric models.
- Supporting strategic decision making.
- Analyzing new products and structures.
- Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
Requirements
- Doctorate Degree or Equivalent Experience
- 3 or more years of prior work-related experience
- Any suitable combination of experience of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
- Understanding of mortgage, housing, employment, and interest rates including awareness of economics conditions and trends impacting the industry.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to individuals from various backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of advanced statistical modeling techniques relevant to mortgage and interest rate modeling.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Able to effectively summarize and communicate relevant findings and other information.
- Data manipulation and programming in support of market analysis.
- Forecasting and modeling of economic and financial conditions.
- Creation of analytical presentations and communications.
- Presentation of findings to senior management.
- Analysis and recommendations on alternative credit structures, risk sharing arrangements, and/or non-traditional manners in which to participate and take on credit risk as appropriate and necessary.

- Anticipated base salary from $99,000 to $140,540
- Eligible to participate in an annual incentive program
