Responsibilities

  • Deployment, migration, implementation, and administration of databases and support of all database environments and related applications on on-prem and Azure SQL Databases.
  • Performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backups, error checks, and replication.
  • Triage and troubleshoot escalating issues with other teams.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and patch SQL Servers.
  • Test backup/recovery, replication, failover, and disaster recovery.
  • Deploy new databases and code per change requests.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support, including after-hours support.
  • Manage SQL Server Databases, Azure SQL databases, and instances.
  • Backup and restore on-prem and Azure SQL databases, as well as managed instances.
  • Monitor SQL Agent jobs and respond to critical job notifications on failure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with production systems; escalate issues and facilitate resolution.
  • Automate common management tasks using PowerShell.
  • Evaluate data access and security to ensure electronic data resources are available and protected.
  • Automate database management tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with application support and development teams, including architects and developers, to ensure project success.
  • Assist in project planning and management with clients and other staff members.
  • Create documentation and maintenance plans.
  • Assign monitoring threshold values.

Requirements

  • 10-12 years of experience in SQL Database Administration with relational databases.
  • Experience with backup strategies, replication, and DR solutions for SQL.
  • Experience monitoring and tuning MS SQL Server databases for optimum performance.
  • Deep knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, and performance tuning.
  • Comprehensive expertise in SQL Server database administration.
  • Thorough familiarity with the distinct capabilities and limitations of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server deployed on Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Ability to act like an owner, taking initiative, going above and beyond, and delivering results.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to manage projects of varying length.
  • Responsibility, high dependability, and organization.
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively with peers.
  • Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s).
  • Valid work or study permit (where applicable).
