About the Role

Performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction. Promotes company products and services.

Responsibilities

• Works under general supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls
• Analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves customer problems courteously, professionally, and accurately
• Diagnoses and performs services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment
• Inspects equipment to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns
• Completes routine maintenance and equipment cleaning
• Responsible for delivery and removal of parts and equipment
• Records customer call information using a hand-held device and completes all required paperwork
• Collects payment from customers
• Communicates with dispatch to provide status reports and availability
• Delivers excellent customer service and maintains high customer satisfaction
• Promotes products and services, and generates sales leads
• Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are properly maintained and accounted for
• Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically
• Follows standard procedures, ensures vehicle stock, and replenishes supplies
• Performs similar or other duties as needed or assigned
• Maintains regular, reliable attendance

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with additional training
• Must possess all valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations
• EPA and safety certifications required
• Proficient mechanical aptitude
• Ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment
• Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
• Proficient at starting up and balancing airflow and aligning belts and pulleys
• Proficient at installing basic duct fittings
• Effective communication skills
• Effective and efficient time-management and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces
• Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions
• Ability to safely climb ladders with a 30lb tool belt
• Normal vision with depth perception
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry items up to 50 pounds

Skills

• Servicing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment
• Troubleshooting electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment

Experience Level

• 2+ years’ experience in HVAC

Education Level

• High school diploma or GED
• Technical training certification
