About the Role

Lead the Acquisition team as an Engineering Lead, working closely with the PM to own delivery, operational reliability, and developer experience. You will ship production code, provide technical coaching, and shape the team's use of AI tools to enhance speed and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team building products that directly drive Flock's growth.
  • Own delivery and technical quality for the Acquisition team, shipping features that impact how fleets find and choose Flock.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested TypeScript and own end-to-end delivery to production.
  • Partner with product to drive impact.
  • Translate business goals into clear technical scope, success metrics, and delivery plans.
  • Grow engineers through leading by example, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Drive improvements to developer experience, CI/CD, observability, and release practices.
  • Make pragmatic trade-offs balancing reliability, performance, and cost across AWS services.
  • Decide how the team uses AI, including coding assistants and agent workflows.
  • Integrate with and contribute to the development of RESTful APIs.
  • Use AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch) to support and extend services and pipelines.
  • Work with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK.
  • Co-own the team's success with the PM, leading projects from scoping to delivery.
  • Give engineers ownership to lead projects, challenging their thinking.
  • Deliver high-quality, well-tested code and raise standards through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.
  • Champion practical testing, type-safe APIs, and pragmatic patterns.
  • Set the example on AI-assisted development and coach engineers on its effective use.
  • Bring clarity to complex problems and help define impactful deliverables.
  • Focus on the output, quality, and growth of the entire team.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to co-lead a team alongside a PM, taking joint ownership of delivery, quality, and outcomes.
  • Strong hands-on engineering ability; comfortable shipping high-quality, well-tested TypeScript in production.
  • Significant experience with AWS and modern serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch) or other cloud platforms.
  • A pragmatic approach to technical decisions, balancing reliability, observability, performance, and cost.
  • Track record of raising engineering standards as a force-multiplier.
  • Strong communication skills; able to represent the team upwards and translate business goals into technical scope and delivery plans.
  • Experience improving developer experience, CI/CD, release practices, and delivery cadence across a team.
  • Confident using AI development tools daily, with experience helping a team adopt them without compromising quality.
  • Experience aligning technical direction beyond your immediate team.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK.
  • Practical experience designing event-driven, distributed systems.
  • Background in a fast-moving, product-led environment.
  • Track record of creating conditions for engineers to step up and grow.
