About the Role
The Heavy Duty Services Complex Gas OTR team is responsible for the engineering execution of conversions, modifications, and uprates for GE Gas Turbines and associated Plant equipment globally. The Complex Gas Upgrades Lead Requisition Engineer will provide technical coordination for these projects from order conversion through installation, managing scheduling, engineering definition, parts ordering, approvals, and technical issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical coordination for conversions, modifications, including unit relocations and uprates on in-service Gas Turbine Power Trains and their BOP Mechanical/Electrical systems.
- Provide wing to wing support for proposals and projects from inquiry to remittance (ITR).
- Develop and monitor engineering project schedules to meet milestones defined by Project Management, GE Field Service and Customer.
- Communicate project scope to Engineering / Manufacturing / Sourcing / Field Service / Service Shop Personnel and Customer.
- Provide technical support to Engineering / Manufacturing / Sourcing / Field Service / Service Shop Personnel during project execution and installation.
- Manage and report project financials including Estimate at Completion (EAC) for both engineering and parts cost.
- Communicate and drive lessons learned into the GT Upgrades ITR process, tools and design engineering teams.
- Deliver technical presentations to customers and other GE components.
- Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs.
- Promote professional growth of the global Requisition Engineering team juniors through coaching and mentoring.
- Ensure timely completion of all project objectives.
- Demonstrate accountability for functional and business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related engineering/science (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering or field services experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading engineering projects
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed (10% or less)
Skills
- Systems thinker - Able to understand, adapt and anticipate the relationships of major equipment inside a combined cycle power plant.
- Knowledge of BOP Electrical equipment. Excitation, Load Commutator Inverter, One-line diagrams, Generator Protection, Synchronization, Motor Control Centers.
- Knowledge of Pant Communication Networks GE controllers with DCS
- Understanding of Gas Turbines Power train operation in Peaking and Combined Cycle configurations
- Knowledge of GE Gas Turbine product lines and systems.
- Familiar with GE Gas Turbine MLI/BOM structure.
- Proficient in the Gas Turbine Requisition process.
- Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills, as well as a high degree of enthusiasm to drive results
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in global locations.
- Ability and an eagerness to challenge the status quo, without allegiance to past or current practices and technology, resulting in the best outcome for GE and our customers.
- Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
- Field experience on GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbines
Experience Level
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering or field services experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading engineering projects
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related engineering/science (or equivalent experience)
Salary/Compensations
- $98,400.00 - $164,000.00
- 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas (geographic differential)
