Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, courteous service to dining guests for all meals and special functions.
- Coordinate with kitchen and dining room staff for efficient restaurant operations.
- Describe menu items in detail and answer guest questions.
- Offer recommendations, including wine pairings, to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Open wine and champagne tableside.
- Take and serve food and beverage orders efficiently and professionally.
- Enter guest orders into POS, including special requests and dietary restrictions.
- Anticipate and fulfill guest needs proactively.
- Answer guest questions accurately with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Navigate stairs and crowded/noisy conditions while carrying trays.
- Handle dishes and glassware carefully.
- Provide proper service for wines, champagne, cocktails, spirits, and beer.
- Set and reset tables with all necessary service ware.
- Mark silverware with each course.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness before, during, and after service.
- Store food according to safe food-handling procedures.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of special functions.
- Work productively and efficiently with or without supervision on routine tasks.
- Assume responsibility for Mohonk Mountain House equipment and supplies, preventing loss and abuse.
- Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House Dress and Grooming Standards.
- Inspect work for cleanliness standards using touch, sight, sound, and smell.
- Communicate clearly and congenially in English with guests and staff.
- Hear verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
- Perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, flexing, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
- Lift and carry significant weight, and walk long distances.
- Maneuver carts or dollies with heavy loads.
- Utilize vision for close and distance tasks, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Analyze problems and implement action plans.
- Wear approved safety shoes and use safety equipment when necessary.
- Learn and retain historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
- Learn and demonstrate Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps and Strategies.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform basic mathematical functions.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
- Operate vehicles safely when driving and/or parking.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of hospitality.
- Experience in food and beverage service.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Ability to hear verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, and stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from ground level to waist height, and from waist height to shoulder height, and carry up to 100 feet without assistance.
- Ability to walk up to 7 miles per shift.
- Ability to maneuver carts or dollies safely with loads up to 200 pounds up and down stairs, elevators, through passageways or outdoors up to 75 yards.
- Ability to see close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop and implement action plans.
- Ability to wear Mohonk Mountain House approved safety shoes, and proper safety equipment when performing tasks that recommend such equipment.
- Ability to learn and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
- Ability to learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including days/nights, weekdays/weekends, holidays and during peak periods of business.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of guests’ personal information and use with discretion.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely while driving and/or parking in compliance with Mohonk Mountain House Traffic Rules and Regulations.
