About the Role
This is a high-ownership role focused on the growth of The Gym Group. You will lead the delivery of new gym fit-outs, manage capital works, and provide technical input during site acquisitions, working with a dedicated property team.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of new gym fit-outs across the UK, from technical due diligence to operational handover.
- Manage a portfolio of capital works across the existing estate, including refurbishments, extensions, and compliance-driven upgrades.
- Develop schedules of works and cost plans, and negotiate with landlords and contractors.
- Own project budgets and programmes, integrating building works, equipment, IT, signage, and security.
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and the Building Safety Act, acting as Principal Designer where required.
- Review and challenge design proposals to ensure they meet regulatory standards, operational needs, and brand requirements.
- Manage external contractors, consultants, and suppliers, holding teams accountable for performance, safety, and quality.
- Communicate proactively with senior stakeholders on project progress, risks, and milestones.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction or fit-out projects across a multi-site UK estate.
- Strong commercial skills including budget management, procurement, and contract negotiation.
- Solid working knowledge of CDM regulations, the Building Safety Act, and building regulations.
- Experience managing outsourced contractors and professional consultants at a national level.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills, including reporting to senior leadership.
- Self-sufficient and comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines.
