About the Role

The New York Stock Exchange is seeking a versatile Full Stack Software Engineer to work across the entire stack, from data and services through to the user experience. This is a builder's role where you will own problems from idea to production, taking on work across design, implementation, testing, and delivery. The role emphasizes the use of AI and agentic tools to enhance speed, quality, and scope of work. You will join a fluid team that moves quickly, requiring concise communication and the ability to thrive in an agile environment with complex, loosely defined problems.

Responsibilities

Design and build thoroughly tested, efficient, maintainable software across the full stack
Own features from early concept and prototype through to production and support
Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and services
Contribute to and enhance shared component and testing frameworks
Use AI and agentic development tools to accelerate implementation, testing, refactoring, and documentation
Review and validate code generated by AI with the same rigor as any other change
Define conventions and guardrails for AI-generated code
Choose appropriately sized AI models for each task, balancing capability against speed and cost
Create and maintain clear software documentation
Prepare and produce releases of software components
Build wireframes and prototypes to validate ideas quickly
Provide support throughout the software delivery process, including beyond business hours when necessary

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
2 or more years of professional software development experience
Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, testing, debugging, and clean, maintainable design
Proven ability to work across the full stack, comfortable on both the frontend and the backend
Proficiency with a modern frontend framework and core web technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS)
Experience building backend services and integrating RESTful APIs
Experience working with a relational database (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL)
A habit of writing automated tests and reviewing code with care
Demonstrated, recent experience using AI development tools
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical solutions clearly
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Strong desire to grow
