About the Role

The Respiratory Therapist participates actively in the monitoring and treatment of patients with cardiopulmonary and respiratory disease, assuming primary responsibility for respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform arterial blood gas analysis sampling and analysis.
  • Conduct physical assessment and pulmonary function testing.
  • Consult with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and modify patient care plans.
  • Set up and monitor therapeutic gases (e.g., oxygen).
  • Administer respiratory care medications via inhalation.
  • Perform bronchial hygiene therapy.
  • Provide cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Initiate and support breathing apparatus, including mechanical ventilator management.
  • Insert and maintain artificial airways.
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA Accredited School for Respiratory Care.
  • Current registration in New York State as Respiratory Therapist, Diploma and Licensure required.
  • BLS and ACLS required.

Salary/Compensations

  • $52.658/hr - $58.619/hr
