About the Role

The LUH72 Aircraft Mechanic III/Lead is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures, components, and engines. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, interpreting technical data, and providing technical guidance to lower-level technicians. The position requires excellent organizational skills to meet delivery schedules and may involve participating in maintenance test flights.

Responsibilities

Maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures, structural components, and engines.
Repairing aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
Applying technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Interpreting technical data such as blueprints and manufacturer's manuals.
Providing technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers.
Making entries in aircraft logs and records.
Providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians.
Inspecting all assigned aircraft.
Proficiently using the Government STAMIS for Army aircraft forms and records.
Planning, conducting, and supervising aircraft technical inspections.
Computing basic weight and balance records.
Participating in maintenance test flights and operation checks.
Ensuring compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program, and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.
Preparing evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance and repair.
Prioritizing workloads and leading teams through complex aircraft tasks.
Removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies and components.
Servicing and lubricating aircraft and subsystems.
Safely preparing aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
Performing scheduled inspections and assisting in special inspections.
Performing limited maintenance operational checks and diagnosing/troubleshooting aircraft systems.
Using and performing operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.

Requirements

Must possess a valid up-to-date A&P license.
Five (5) years of aviation maintenance experience.
Five (5) years of rotary wing aircraft experience.
Two (2) years of experience on the LUH72 (MDS).
All experience must be within the ten (10) most recent years.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.
Must possess own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.
Must possess the experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance.
Must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ACN.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.
