About the Role

The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications of Generac industrial products. This position requires 100% travel with a fleet vehicle provided, and no overnight travel is anticipated. Overtime may be required during mass storms and outages.

  • Perform repairs on Generac industrial products.
  • Conduct warranty and campaign services.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Implement equipment modifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 3-4 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
  • Generac Industrial certification and related maintenance, startup and troubleshooting competencies
  • Competitive brand industrial repair proficiency
  • Load bank loading and towing and related certifications are required for larger commercial and industrial units.
  • Constantly using hands to finger, handle, feel, lift or operate objects, and use computer keyboards.
  • Fine dexterity for manipulating small objects required.
  • Constantly required to walk, squat, turn/twist, crouch, reach, stand, balance, climb/descend ladders, stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and see, talk, hear, and smell.
  • Constantly required to stand on variable work surfaces.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, as well as noisy and confined environments.
  • Daily road travel is monitored by vehicle GPS.
  • Random Drug/other testing or data collection may be required to meet customer site access requirements.
  • Strict adherence to proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working in the field, which may include: eye and hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, ESD/spark/fire resistant uniform, or face shields.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical design

  • Working knowledge of wiring schematics
  • Working knowledge of connection diagrams
  • Working knowledge of control systems
  • Understand components and operation of an electrical distribution and transfer switch system
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experienced in Electronics
  • Experienced in Electromechanical Technology
  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, products
  • Spark Ignited and Compression ignition internal combustion engine knowledge
