About the Role
Agave is seeking a semi-technical generalist to become a deep product expert. You will work directly with engineers to spec, test, and ship product improvements, focusing on execution in complex integrations and edge cases. This role reports directly to Product Managers.
Responsibilities
- Become a deep expert on every system Agave integrates with, including ERPs, field tools, and accounting platforms.
- Investigate edge cases and unexpected behaviors in integrations through structured debugging.
- Write precise, engineer-ready specifications for new features, improvements, and bug fixes.
- Own the full lifecycle of features from discovery through QA and rollout.
- Design and execute thorough test plans before features ship.
- Catch edge cases that engineers and customers might miss.
- Document rollout steps and own post-launch monitoring.
- Synthesize feedback from customer calls, support tickets, and onboarding observations.
- Translate implicit and explicit product pain points into actionable specifications.
- Partner with the AM/onboarding team to identify friction points and prioritize fixes.
- Build internal documentation for integration behaviors, known edge cases, and common configurations.
- Create and maintain testing frameworks that scale with product growth.
- Identify and improve gaps in the product development process.
Requirements
- Must be a hands-on builder focused on product execution and delivery.
- Must have at least internship experience working closely with APIs, databases, SQL, Postman, and similar tools, or excitement to learn.
- Must possess meticulous attention to detail and be a structured thinker.
- Must be willing to work in-person in San Francisco 5 days per week.
- Experience building software products alongside software engineers and shipping products on tight timelines is a plus.
- Experience with side projects or hustles is a plus.
- Enjoy tinkering and discovering through trial and error.
- Ability to manage complex systems and variables is a plus.
- Desire to learn how software products are built is a plus.
- Ability to produce research docs ready for engineering implementation within the first week.
- Ability to quickly become an expert on integrated systems and products.
- Comfortable wearing many hats and figuring things out with limited direction.
- Willingness to focus internally on product and dev teams, with less emphasis on customer-facing interaction.
