About the Role
The Microsoft Threat Analysis Center (MTAC) is seeking a Threat Context Analyst to investigate influence and AI threats originating from China, leveraging Mandarin language proficiency and open-source research skills. This role contributes to MTAC's mission of detecting, assessing, and disrupting digital threats to Microsoft, its customers, and global democracies. The analyst will produce reports and brief executive audiences on malicious nation-state influence, cyber-enabled, and AI-enabled influence operations.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, research, and assess Chinese malign influence threats at tactical and strategic levels using China-linked social media, foreign policy reporting, and cyber threat intelligence.
- Write reports based on findings for executive audiences.
- Develop presentations and brief stakeholders under tight deadlines.
- Employ innovative, non-intrusive, and lawful methods to detect, diagnose, and deter threats in the information environment.
- Collaborate with Microsoft Threat Intelligence on investigations of China-based cyber operations and incorporate their technical findings into analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field OR equivalent experience.
- Spoken and written proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
- Active Security Clearance.
- 2+ years of experience tracking Chinese threat capabilities, infrastructure, and operational techniques and East Asia geopolitical issues.
- 2+ years producing actionable threat intelligence or strategic analysis through written reports and products.
- Experience in use of AI platforms and applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations.
- Citizenship verification required due to citizenship-based legal restrictions supporting US government customers.
