About the Role

The Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team within Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure. This role will provide strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier management, compliance, and functional direction across regional datacenter projects to ensure optimal cost, capacity, quality, and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Global Supply Chain teams to meet on-time delivery for large, complex datacenter construction projects.
• Manage post-award activities for Capital Equipment procurement and project execution.
• Manage supplier performance and lead cross-functional teams.
• Execute and manage Equipment contracts for large, complex data center construction projects and/or purchasing opportunities.
• Collect and analyze relevant internal and industry data to understand business requirements and benchmark against markets.
• Share industry and category expertise across stakeholder teams to execute and/or develop strategies.
• Integrate business specifications for complex purchasing areas into RFI and/or RFP processes.
• Define and manage supplier scorecard criteria, coordinate supplier performance/recovery reviews, and drive corrective actions.
• Partner with suppliers to identify and drive continuous improvement and risk management opportunities.
• Manage contract and price negotiation activities for equipment categories, ensuring price and capacity needs are met.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive cost competitiveness.
• Understand construction industry contracting norms and Microsoft contracting requirements; participate and/or lead negotiation of contracts.
• Identify risks and roadblocks to contract execution and drive resolution or escalation.
• Monitor and mitigate the impact of change orders to the underlying business case.
• Monitor and mitigate the impact of change orders to the project, and partner cross-functionally to resolve/escalate.
• Attend cost/change management meetings to ensure timely execution of change orders for equipment and labor.
• Act as the commercial Subject Matter Expert and prescribe entitlement and justification for all change orders.
• Negotiate claims with a detailed understanding of contractual conditions and partner with regional claims to settle or escalate.
• Ensure adherence to policy, educate stakeholders and suppliers on policy compliance, and manage remediation of sourcing issues.
• Identify opportunities to adapt policy to mitigate risk and better enable suppliers.
• Ensure consistency, timeliness, quality, and accuracy of deliverables.
• Communicate delays to Procurement stakeholders and propose/execute contingency measures.
• Develop pricing and negotiation strategies on contract changes for multiple purchasing categories.
• Identify negotiation setbacks and take action to mitigate contract disagreements.
• Drive early business engagements with cross-functional leadership to define and drive action on supply solutions and strategies.
• Advise cross-functional teams on sourcing decisions.
• Manage and oversee Supplier labor management in coordination with General Contractor, Scheduling Teams, and Internal Planning Teams.
• Manage schedule compliance and escalations from field team to support installation and Commissioning (Cx) activities.
• Negotiate and manage change orders for overtime, schedule compression, and acceleration.
• Facilitate Mechanical Engineer and Plumbing (MEP)/Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment delivery to site, including inspections and sign-offs.
• Address quality-related issues as they arise and report to the quality team and category management.
• Coordinate post-IFC design changes and deliver aligned project specifications, compliance documents, and technical submittals.

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
