About the Role

This position oversees and maintains assigned areas of the compliance program for consumers, monitoring business areas for adherence to laws and regulations, and ensuring effective controls to mitigate compliance risk. The role involves managing the remediation of compliance-identified issues, ensuring regulatory adherence while supporting business areas in implementing corrective actions and procedural changes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a compliance subject matter expert for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with compliance risk assessments, analyzing the Bank’s compliance risks and determining if current controls adequately mitigate risk.
  • Analyze new and changing consumer laws and regulations through the regulatory change management process and disseminate information to applicable business areas for implementation.
  • Assist with updates to consumer-related compliance policies, procedures, and training material.
  • Assist the Sr Compliance Officer, Compliance Manager, and Risk Assessment team with the review and challenge of compliance testing programs, controls, and related processes.
  • Perform research on regulations and provide guidance to business operations on lending compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and report compliance testing or monitoring results for assigned business units.
  • Attend meetings to discuss testing and risk assessment results and business to remediation plans.
  • Review marketing materials for business areas or products, ensuring compliance with regulatory and business standards.
  • Participate in compliance-related Committees and Advisory meetings as assigned, maintaining minutes or notes as applicable.
  • Perform independent compliance reviews on specific loan-level accounts through the review and challenge process.
  • Comply fully with all Bank Compliance policies and procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with regulatory examinations and serve as a liaison with regulators when requested.
  • Provide guidance on regulations, requirements, and Bank procedures.
  • Conduct and document reviews and address findings with employees and supervisors.
  • Draft and maintain employee training for assigned topic areas.
  • Analyze the Bank’s compliance risk and determine if current processes control risk.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of compliance or regulatory reporting in the consumer lending space.
  • Minimum 5 years’ combined experience in consumer lending space or retail banking compliance or working in a legal department.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with managing projects or processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking and consumer compliance laws and regulations, as related to deposit and bank operations (e.g., Regulations E, DD, CC, and FDIC Regulations).
  • Demonstrated experience in Payment Operations including Physical Payments (ATM/Checks/Lockbox) and Electronic & Real Time Payments (Wires/ACH/Credit & Debit Cards/Zelle).
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and provide guidance, make recommendations, and/or escalate issues.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
  • Excellent time management skills and accustomed to working with deadlines.
  • Understanding of NACHA rules is helpful.
  • College degree preferred. Relevant, equivalent work experience may be substituted for degree preference.
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) designation a plus.

Salary/Compensations

  • For locations in (Los Angeles), the salary range is $77,000 - $143,000
  • For locations in (New York), the salary range is $85,000 - $145,000
  • For locations (Charlotte, Phoenix, Delaware), the RBC range is $70,000 - $130,000
  • Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
  • This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
