About the Role
Mariana Minerals is seeking a technician for its San Francisco Pilot Plant team to support the design, deployment, and operation of critical mineral refining processes and software for automated plant optimization. This hands-on role bridges R&D and Operations, ensuring processes are robust, safe, and cost-effective.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineers and technicians in operating and monitoring chemical processes (precipitation, filtration, ion exchange, membrane concentration).
- Safely handle chemicals, raw materials, and waste streams according to SOPs and regulations.
- Support sampling, quality checks, and basic laboratory measurements.
- Assist with the design, installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
- Maintain plant cleanliness and organization, ensuring work areas, tools, and equipment are well-maintained.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and basic mechanical repairs, documenting findings in a CMMS.
- Create and maintain procedures, experimental records, shift reports, and other operational documents.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience operating pilot plant or commercial scale industrial equipment in minerals processing, chemicals, specialty materials, oil & gas, biotech, or similar industries.
- Prior exposure to core plant safety work processes (LOTO, hot work permitting, confined space entry, safe work permitting).
- Experience using HMIs and plant software systems for process monitoring and control.
- Experience with hands-on equipment installation, modification, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
