About the Role

Manage and develop a sales territory of Independent Agencies, focusing on building relationships, optimizing growth, prospecting new agencies, and exceeding sales goals using Mercury sales tools and competitor intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Plan weekly sales calls for assigned agencies.
  • Provide feedback to management on market conditions and program effectiveness.
  • Respond to agent and customer inquiries.
  • Identify and vet potential agency prospects.
  • Assist management with special assignments.
  • Complete training to enhance skills.
  • Assist with interviewing and training new employees.
  • Drive profitable development of assigned agencies.
  • Influence agents to quote and sell Mercury products.
  • Execute sales strategy to grow market share.
  • Adjust sales tactics based on company goals and industry trends.
  • Coordinate with team members to optimize sales goals.
  • Provide mentoring and training to junior sales representatives.
  • Maintain a pipeline of agent prospects.
  • Articulate a need-based sales process.
  • Understand and address differences in assigned agencies.
  • Complete strategic plans for assigned agencies.
  • Resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Assist agencies with Mercury’s systems and point of sales platform.
  • Ensure agency teams are fully trained.
  • Capitalize on opportunities to sell Mercury products.
  • Articulate company position and seek business with appropriate agencies.
  • Drive results through regular contact with agencies, using data and metrics.
  • Hold agency owners accountable for agreed-upon goals.
  • Communicate and explain difficult situations to achieve buy-in.
  • Provide consistent follow-up with agency partners and team members.
  • Coach agents on performance using data analytic tools.
  • Gather competitor intelligence.
  • Attend group conventions and/or tradeshows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • At least 5 years of sales experience.
  • At least 3 years of Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.
  • Strong, professional written, phone, and virtual communication skills.
  • Comfortable participating in video conference calls.
  • Ability to interact professionally with agencies and team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to support Company policies, offer technical guidance, and facilitate training.
  • Analytical skills to understand and interpret data.
  • Business agility to pivot and adjust quickly.
  • Creative and resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel by airline 10% of the time.
  • Ability to travel by automobile 90% of the time.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to motivate, monitor, and develop assigned agencies.
  • Negotiating and mediating skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex reports and multi-task.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of CRM system(s).

  • $68,457 to $132,394 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)
  • $110,468.25 to $135,016.75 (CA)
