About the Role

The Making Care Better Performance Improvement Fellowship at The Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian (MSCHONY) is a specialized health services performance and quality improvement position. This fellowship offers a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to meaningfully improve culture, supporting individuals with aspirations for increased responsibility in healthcare management and quality/safety. Projects will provide exposure to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Manage and systematize current quality improvement projects for the Making Care Better Initiative, including preventing surgical site infections, antibiotic stewardship, enhancing Operating Room throughput, and standardizing treatment protocols.
Utilize the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program framework to engage front line staff, educate staff on the science of safety, execute initiatives, and evaluate quality initiatives.
Develop, recommend, and implement quality improvement projects related to MSCH’s efforts to meet Solutions for Patient Safety hospital-acquired condition bundles.
Apply quality improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma to manage projects and to systematize continuous improvement with clinical staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Prior experience or knowledge of quality improvement, quality assurance, or performance improvement preferred.
Demonstrated experience in managing informatics and utilizing common statistical, spreadsheet, and database management programs.
Ability to work independently and receive feedback on a regular basis.
Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and team-building skills.
Persuasive oral and written skills.

Must live within a commutable distance to NYP.
