About the Role
Cumming Group is seeking a dedicated Design Manager with experience in transportation, including rail and light rail projects, to support multiple concurrent State of Good Repair projects for Seattle's Sound Transit agency. This role offers a hybrid or remote schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manages design deliverables for multiple, concurrent transportation sector project types.
- Supervises a team of design professionals through the design review process.
- Manages and develops the agency's design process for A&E services to ensure plans meet functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.
- Manages multiple projects by interacting with Architects, consultants, and agency personnel for timely completion.
- Oversees the design process to ensure compliance with agency standards and guidelines.
- Provides clear and consistent direction to Architects regarding project goals, standards, sites, schedules, and budgets.
- Establishes and follows an effective design review process to ensure designs meet project goals.
- Ensures maximum value for budgeted funds, meeting functional needs of the community and environment.
- Reviews design changes to ensure projects remain within budget.
- Monitors project planning and design status to report findings and recommendations.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of full-time paid professional experience managing the design, or the planning and coordination of capital projects.
- Eight (8) years of experience in the design, planning, and construction of transportation projects.
- A valid Licensed Architect by the state of Washington is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
