About the Role

The Safety Specialist promotes exceptional Safety/Quality teamwork with INTREN operations teams at customer work sites. This position assists in resolving process problems, performs safety evaluations and workmanship audits, and promotes improved performance through mentoring, coaching, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular jobsite inspections to identify unsafe conditions and work practices.
  • Enforce company safety rules and work with management on disciplinary procedures.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, and DOT compliance.
  • Ensure Damage Prevention standards are utilized and effective.
  • Respond to events to manage response, site safety, customer interface, and preliminary investigation.
  • Ensure BASE is contacted per procedure for all applicable events.
  • Resolve equipment and vehicle issues, including maintenance, repairs, driver qualifications, registrations, DOT inspections, and insurance.
  • Conduct small tool inventories.
  • Partner with utility companies on construction standard issues.
  • Assist other Field Support Coordinators as needed.
  • Perform initial training for all field-related new hires.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor workforce training needs and assist in developing, presenting, and maintaining training records.
  • Conduct subcontractor training.
  • Monitor the completion and effectiveness of all safety programs.
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations.
  • Provide root cause analysis for all incidents and accidents.
  • Evaluate and monitor quality of workmanship.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable ANSI, EPA, OSHA, and other standards.
  • Ensure compliance with equipment maintenance programs.
  • Carry out all loss prevention programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in internal and external investigations and make recommendations.
  • Conduct safety & quality audits.
  • Oversee and monitor the driver risk management program.
  • Provide loss prevention training.
  • Conduct joint investigations with client security representatives.
  • Maintain positive interaction with law enforcement agencies for loss reduction goals.
  • Coordinate and assist management with strategies for security-related matters.
  • Implement and adapt security requirements for sub-contractors.
  • Assist management with security incidents and supervise corrective actions.
  • Execute security audits.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Risk Management Discipline (Safety, Quality, Environment, Criminal Justice) and 3 years’ experience or minimum of 5-10 years of Foreman or General Foreman experience.
  • Knowledge of the natural gas, electrical or underground/overhead utilities is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, able to work and communicate at all levels.
  • Computer skills in most Microsoft programs.
