About the Role
Orrick is seeking talented and motivated associates with 2 to 4 years of experience in AI, copyright, trademark, trade secret, and/or false advertising law to join our intellectual property/technology litigation practice. We are at the forefront of significant national cases, including defending major companies in lawsuits challenging the legality of training generative AI models, and work with leading technology companies.
Responsibilities
- Manage intellectual property/technology litigation and enforcement matters in the copyright, trademark, trade secret, false advertising, and AI spaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive legal solutions to clients.
- Develop strategy for complex litigation and enforcement actions.
- Counsel clients on legal risks related to product development.
- Conduct legal research and analysis with strong legal writing skills.
- Manage the discovery phase of litigation, including e-discovery.
- Exhibit excellent verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong client-facing skills and work effectively as a team player.
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of experience in AI, trademark, copyright, false advertising, and/or trade-secret law including litigation.
- Strong understanding of the Lanham Act, the Copyright Act, the DMCA, federal and state trade-secret statutes, and computer-access laws such as the CFAA and related state laws.
- Trial experience is preferred.
- Willingness to engage with a broad range of laws and legal principles to support technology clients with legal disputes.
- Highly motivated with excellent academic credentials and superior writing and communication skills.
- Membership in the state in which you are submitting your application is required.
