About the Role
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for executing strategic sourcing initiatives, managing assigned spend categories, and overseeing vendor relationships to deliver commercial value, manage third-party risk, and support business priorities. This role works closely with business, technology, legal, and risk partners to design and implement sourcing strategies, negotiate commercially sound supplier arrangements, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements within a regulated financial services environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute strategic sourcing initiatives across assigned categories, from market analysis and supplier evaluation through negotiation and contract award.
- Support the development and execution of category and sourcing strategies that optimize value, manage risk, and align with business needs.
- Lead competitive sourcing and RFP processes, including preparing documentation, coordinating supplier participation, conducting supplier analysis, applying evaluation scoring, and developing award recommendations.
- Act as a hands-on practitioner by reading, interpreting, drafting, and editing commercial contracts, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
- Negotiate supplier agreements within defined authority levels, balancing cost, risk, and service considerations to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Support vendor onboarding activities, including due diligence and B-10 contract assessments, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and contribute to cost-saving and value-creation opportunities within assigned categories, leveraging market insights and supplier capabilities.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, supporting issue resolution and ongoing performance management.
- Apply and promote sourcing best practices, tools, and processes to support consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the procurement and vendor management function.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in business, legal, technology, and risk teams to align sourcing strategies with organizational priorities.
- Support vendor risk management by assessing supplier capabilities, monitoring performance, and contributing to mitigation strategies where needed.
- Contribute to procurement and vendor management projects, ensuring timely execution, effective communication, and alignment with strategic objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, contract management, or vendor management.
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, and strategic sourcing across multiple categories.
- Strong contract management skills, including the ability to read, interpret, draft, and edit commercial contracts.
- Solid commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to assess cost, risk, and business impact when negotiating supplier agreements.
- Demonstrated experience leading RFP and competitive sourcing processes, including supplier evaluation and award recommendations.
- Experience in vendor management, supplier management, and vendor risk assessment.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners across business, legal, technology, and risk teams.
- Strong skills in contract negotiation and supplier negotiation, with a focus on balancing cost, risk, and service.
- Experience with project management in a procurement or sourcing context.
- Familiarity with procurement or ERP tools such as SAP.
- Ability to apply sourcing best practices, tools, and processes to drive consistency and continuous improvement.
- Experience in financial services or a regulated industry is an asset.
- Exposure to vendor risk management practices and governance frameworks.
- Knowledge of B-10 contract assessments and regulatory expectations related to third-party risk is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills to support market analysis, supplier evaluation, and value identification.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple sourcing initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Comfort working in a hands-on, execution-focused role within a small, collaborative team environment.
- Interest in contributing to the continued maturity of procurement and vendor management processes and capabilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs, priorities, and regulatory requirements.
