About the Role

Baseten is seeking an Immigration and Mobility Manager to make global hiring operationally seamless. This role serves as the in-house expert on immigration, relocation, and international employment strategy, ensuring exceptional candidates worldwide can build their careers with the company. The position requires navigating the U.S. immigration landscape, designing systems and policies for global hiring, and delivering an exceptional employee experience. The role will also advise on international expansion, global hiring models, and new hubs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and project manage visa sponsorships executed through Employer of Record (EOR) partners.
  • Serve as Baseten’s internal immigration expert, partnering closely with external counsel and vendors.
  • Stay attuned to changes in the U.S. immigration landscape and translate them into clear, practical guidance for employees and leadership.
  • Design a relocation experience that feels seamless and well-supported, helping employees and their families successfully land in San Francisco, New York, or other global locations.
  • Advise on international hiring and employment arrangements, including cross-border tax implications, compliance considerations, and global mobility tradeoffs.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and People to support international expansion and the establishment of future global hubs.
  • Build scalable processes, documentation, and internal education to make immigration and mobility organized, transparent, and human.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing U.S. and Canadian business immigration across a wide range of visa types and permanent residency pathways.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex, high-stakes immigration scenarios with exceptional judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Deep, current knowledge of the evolving U.S. immigration landscape, with a proactive approach to monitoring and responding to policy changes.
  • Strong experience advising on international employment arrangements, including cross-border compliance and employment tax considerations.
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable internal documentation, knowledge bases, and audit-ready case tracking systems.
  • Exceptional communicator (proactive, clear, and empathetic) who inspires confidence in employees and their families during high-uncertainty processes.
  • Highly organized operator who can manage multiple concurrent cases with speed and precision without sacrificing quality.
  • High-ownership, systems-oriented leader who can operate effectively in both structured environments and fast-scaling startups, balancing risk management with hiring velocity.
