About the Role
As a Part-Time Porter Guard, you will play an essential role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for older adults in our Senior Citizen Housing community. You will support daily building operations and ensure the well-being of residents, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain building cleanliness and perform routine housekeeping and building support duties.
- Monitor visitor activity and maintain building logs.
- Assist with emergency response procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors, and staff.
- Clean and maintain building interiors, including hallways, stairs, common areas, and bathrooms.
- Clean and remove items from vacant apartments.
- Sweep sidewalks, courtyards, and parking lots.
- Trim shrubbery and remove weeds.
- Remove debris from grounds and keep common areas free from graffiti.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, courtyards, and parking areas.
- Deposit garbage into designated receptacles.
- Ensure all arriving visitors sign the visitor log book and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor building activity and report concerns to supervisors.
- Respond to alarms, record events, and notify appropriate personnel.
- Assist with maintaining a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Move equipment and supplies throughout the building.
- Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- One or more years of previous related experience preferred.
- Experience in porter services, custodial work, building maintenance, security, or residential settings preferred.
- Ability to read, speak, and follow directions in English.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with residents, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and building protocols.
- Dependable, responsible, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, moving, and carrying packages, furniture, or office equipment.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned responsibilities.
- Must be available to work the scheduled shifts: Saturday–Sunday: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM, Monday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- May be required to work additional evenings and/or weekends as assigned.
