About the Role
Generate Capital provides power to large load customers through on-site and grid-connected solutions. This role supports regional and state-level policy and regulatory strategy, integrating regulatory expertise into commercial strategy and shaping policy outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Establish policy priorities and engagement strategies in state and ISO/RTO markets.
- Monitor and translate policy updates into strategic guidance for internal teams.
- Represent Generate in policy forums and regional trade groups.
- Ensure key policy outcomes protect Generate’s commercial priorities.
- Coordinate external resources like consultants and lobbyists.
- Partner with internal teams on interconnection strategy development and execution.
- Interface with utilities, transmission owners, ISOs/RTOs, and regulators.
- Develop and execute community engagement plans.
- Integrate regulatory expertise into commercial strategy.
- Shape policy outcomes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in energy policy or market strategy focused on the electricity industry.
- Prior experience at an Independent Power Producer, power developer, utility, transmission owner, ISO/RTO, or data center developer.
- Experience engaging directly with utilities and grid operators, with preference for SPP and/or ERCOT experience.
- Experience with wholesale market design, regulatory structures, and interconnection processes, including ERCOT and/or SPP.
- Experience navigating PUCs, ISO/RTO initiatives, and administrative proceedings.
- Experience in coalition-building and strategic development of courses of action.
- Ability to clearly convey risks and opportunities posed by complex regulatory constructs and political dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to balance policy goals with business priorities.
- Experience managing consultants, lobbyists, and external advisors.
