About the Role

Join our Meat Department as a Meat Cutter, where you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality, fresh meat products and ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality. This role is central to providing exceptional guest service and contributing to memorable meal creations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all non-case ready meat products, including cutting, grinding, wrapping, and trimming, according to established standards.
  • Provide expertise and leadership on the sales floor, ensuring safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.
  • Manage inventory effectively within the grocery store environment.
  • Apply knowledge of different meat cuts and cooking techniques to assist guests.
  • Maintain and meet quality and quantity standards by filling service and self-service cases.
  • Support teammates and contribute positively to the department's culture.
  • Increase sales by ensuring products are visually appealing.
  • Reduce shrink by following production lists, accurate trim standards, and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure meat products are properly packaged, labeled, and stored.
  • Assist in training Utility team members in various meat preparation techniques.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the department and ensure proper operation, maintenance, and sanitization of equipment.
  • Provide excellent service at the meat counter, offering expert knowledge and assisting guests.
  • Collect and fulfill special orders and requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the team.
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a butcher or in meat cutting within a grocery store, retail, or meat production setting.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of perishable foods, particularly meat.
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Ability to stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
