About the Role
Join our Meat Department as a Meat Cutter, where you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality, fresh meat products and ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality. This role is central to providing exceptional guest service and contributing to memorable meal creations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all non-case ready meat products, including cutting, grinding, wrapping, and trimming, according to established standards.
- Provide expertise and leadership on the sales floor, ensuring safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.
- Manage inventory effectively within the grocery store environment.
- Apply knowledge of different meat cuts and cooking techniques to assist guests.
- Maintain and meet quality and quantity standards by filling service and self-service cases.
- Support teammates and contribute positively to the department's culture.
- Increase sales by ensuring products are visually appealing.
- Reduce shrink by following production lists, accurate trim standards, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure meat products are properly packaged, labeled, and stored.
- Assist in training Utility team members in various meat preparation techniques.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the department and ensure proper operation, maintenance, and sanitization of equipment.
- Provide excellent service at the meat counter, offering expert knowledge and assisting guests.
- Collect and fulfill special orders and requests in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the team.
- Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a butcher or in meat cutting within a grocery store, retail, or meat production setting.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of perishable foods, particularly meat.
- Must be over the age of 18.
- Ability to stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
