About the Role
Under supervision, this role assists physicians with patient care, administrative, and organizational tasks related to patient flow and maintaining a positive practice image.
Responsibilities
- Manage front-end revenue cycle processes, including patient check-in/check-out and collection/reconciliation of payments.
- Discuss patient financial responsibilities.
- Ensure patients provide necessary pre-visit documentation, pre-certifications, authorizations, or referrals.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments using scheduling software.
- Monitor schedules for waitlists, reschedules, and cancellations.
- Assist with coordination of follow-up care, including scheduling tests and prescription requests.
- Maintain physicians’ administrative (research and academic) and clinical/surgical schedules.
- Prepare charges and payments for submission to the billing office.
- Identify delinquent accounts for collection activities and review account status with physicians.
- Assist with physicians’ research activities.
- Assist in the preparation of lectures and presentations.
- Prepare travel arrangements, schedules, and presentation documents for conferences and lectures.
- Update physicians’ CV and credentialing documentation.
- Initiate and prepare written correspondence.
- Perform chaperone duties during patient exams as needed.
Requirements
- Approximately 2 or more years of prior related experience.
Skills
- Computerized appointment scheduling systems (EPIC preferred)
- Electronic Medical Record (eMR) system (ideally EPIC-Care)
- CPT coding
- ICD-9 coding
- ICD-10 coding
- Third party payor reimbursement knowledge (Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, commercial insurance)
