About the Role
The Director, Business Marketing, leads the development of comprehensive marketing plans and programs that identify the needs, growth opportunities, and erosion risks of the business segment. This role directs the development and execution of strategies and programs to achieve acquisition, retention, and growth objectives. This includes managing customer segmentation models, designing marketing journeys, developing value propositions, and executing effective go-to-market strategies and programs that support business segment performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, launch, and optimization of comprehensive B2B marketing plans and growth strategies that drive business segment performance through acquisition, retention, and win-back programs.
- Create tailored marketing strategies that evolve with market dynamics and opportunities, target current and potential customer needs, and maximize the impact of competitive strengths and differentiators across direct and indirect sales channels.
- Lead a highly collaborative business marketing organization of subject matter experts working together to create integrated plans and programs that demonstrate marketing excellence and produce strong results for our Parcel and Direct Mail business lines.
- Guide and coach team members on contributions related to strategy, content, product marketing, campaign development, and performance reporting and analytics.
- Establish strong cross-functional partnerships with internal and external teams in creating and optimizing a performance-driven marketing engine that drives lead generation and new and existing growth opportunities for our Business Sales teams and partner ecosystem.
- Support this priority through segment analysis, program development, and optimization to drive continuous demand generation and business development opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with the Product/Customer Experience team and the Business Sales organization to develop acquisition and retention strategies and programs to achieve business performance objectives across direct and indirect sales channels for Parcel and Direct Mail.
- Leverage new marketing and automation technologies, digital platforms, customer data and analytics, and new AI applications to drive decision-making and advance customer targeting, scalable content and campaign creation, and continuous optimization of business results.
- Lead the use of available business segment data, market research, market insights, and customer feedback to identify segment growth opportunities and risks.
- Translate insights into segment-specific marketing plans, strategies, value propositions, and programs that strengthen the business brand and drive business segment performance.
- Oversee team success in developing and optimizing unique campaign strategies and journeys that influence business use of Canada Post shipping services, advance the strong value proposition of direct mail, and promote the use of the Intelligent Mail Marketing approach.
- Ensure content marketing strategies reflect and facilitate the end-to-end B2B marketing and sales process, driving engagement and opportunities across the business segment.
- Foster strong relationships with internal groups, including Sales, Product, Customer Experience, Customer Service, Channels, and other Marketing teams.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage marketing insights to support the development of the business segment vision, cross-functional initiatives, and the Corporation's objectives.
- Partner with Product, Customer Experience, and Channels teams to support product development processes, taking an agile approach to support all stages of product innovation and enhancement through marketing strategies and tactics.
- Develop plans that achieve key performance metrics, result in successful market launches, generate interest from key target audiences, and drive product adoption.
- Develop and manage external partnerships with advertising agencies, market research firms, industry associations, and influencers.
- Collaborate effectively with external partners to develop and implement strategic marketing initiatives and programs, while ensuring alignment with business segment strategies.
- Leverage relationships with influencer marketing personalities to enhance brand visibility within the business segment.
- Lead a team of marketing professionals in a manner that promotes leadership behaviors and values of the Corporation.
- Foster team member engagement, enable them to enrich their roles and optimize their contribution to the Corporation, and provide them with professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field such as Business Administration, Marketing, or Commerce, OR an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.
- Eight to ten years or more of relevant business marketing functional experience.
- Five or more years of people management experience in a strategic marketing environment.
- Proven experience in establishing performance goals and metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the end-to-end B2B marketing process.
- Experience working in an agile and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Jira, Visio, and marketing technology platforms such as Salesforce.
- Ability to demonstrate expertise in using AI tools within the marketing process.
- Proven expertise in segmentation modeling and interpreting marketing data to inform strategy development.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Sound judgment, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills, with recognized problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational knowledge of Canada Post's products, services, and markets is an asset.
