About the Role
Giant Tiger is seeking friendly, motivated individuals to join their team as a Head Cashier. This role is crucial for ensuring a positive customer experience and maintaining efficient checkout operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring a high level of customer service
- Training cashiers on point of sale, customer service, and checkout procedures
- Ordering and replenishing checkout merchandise, including tobacco and lottery
- Opening and closing the store on a rotating basis
- Ensuring compliance with all checkout policies daily
- Ensuring health and safety policies and guidelines are followed
- Maintaining a clean and organized checkout work area
- Adhering to loss prevention best practices
- Ensuring compliance with policies for selling tobacco and lottery
- Resolving customer complaints quickly and professionally
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a retail environment
- Supervisory experience is an asset
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, twist, and squat
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 18 kg (40 lbs.)
- Ability to perform tasks involving firm grasping
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring a range of hand motions
- Ability to reach above shoulder height and below waist level
- Ability to operate equipment, including using a ladder
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and maintain authorization for the duration of employment
