About the Role

The Tax Department Coordinator role requires strong organization, communication skills, and attention to detail to coordinate various aspects of the tax practice, including scheduling staff, facilitating department activities, and supporting the tax department head in regional growth. The ideal candidate can pivot and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, managing competing demands and keeping stakeholders informed.

Responsibilities

  • Update daily schedules in scheduling software.
  • Lead weekly regional scheduling meetings with staff and managers.
  • Oversee busy season scheduling to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage the return workload for all colleagues.
  • Manage daily schedules for outsourced staff.
  • Promote and expand the utilization of outsourced services across the region.
  • Track staff utilization and realization metrics.
  • Coordinate training and development programs for outsourced and shared resources teams.
  • Conduct weekly reports to showcase the movement of returns and associated utilized hours.
  • Organize department meetings.
  • Plan and facilitate welcome happy hours and team-building activities.
  • Manage internship activities, including lunches and other events.
  • Coordinate the annual department retreat.
  • Develop the full workflow and written materials on what happens from a return start to finish.
  • Coordinate onboarding training and activities for new hires.
  • Plan and manage national tax training sessions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or High School equivalent certificate.
  • 1 – 2 year(s) of public accounting experience or supporting a professional services firm.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
