About the Role
Alliance is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join their in-house engineering team. This role involves owning features from definition to production, reporting directly to the CTO.
Responsibilities
- Own applied ML end-to-end, from problem definition to production system.
- Build and operate production Python systems for data collection, feature extraction, and AI-assisted research.
- Develop trustworthy models by defining labels, building evaluation sets, and comparing approaches.
- Move work from the model lab into production, managing artifacts, APIs, and observability.
- Improve LLM systems including structured extraction, research agents, and prompt/model evaluation.
- Work with stakeholders to define project scope, explain model behavior, and iterate based on usage.
Requirements
- Senior, self-directed ML engineer capable of taking an ambiguous problem through to a reliable production release.
- Deep experience with Python and applied machine learning.
- Comfortable moving between data exploration, training code, application code, APIs, and production debugging.
- Strong modeling judgment including problem definition, feature design, evaluation, and model selection.
- Sufficient software and data engineering depth to ship own work, including building pipelines and services.
- Practical experience with LLM systems, including structured outputs and safe handling of untrusted inputs.
- Clear communicator with good product judgment, able to work with non-technical stakeholders.
- Extremely high-agency, entrepreneurial, and self-driven.
- NYC-based or willing to relocate.
