About the Role

The Platform team builds the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, supporting rapid global growth. Our team develops Groove, a platform that assists thousands of employees in planning, coordinating, and delivering work across Spotify, from initiative tracking to dependency management and collaborative planning. We are a focused, cross-functional engineering team dedicated to creating tools that reduce friction and empower individuals to perform at their best, emphasizing rapid iteration based on user feedback.

Responsibilities

Build and evolve Groove, a fullstack platform supporting planning, collaboration, and execution across Spotify.
Design and deliver features including initiative tracking, planning workflows, and dependency management.
Work across the stack using React, TypeScript, Java, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to build end-to-end solutions.
Partner closely with product managers and designers to understand user needs and create intuitive, effective experiences.
Ensure reliability through testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production.
Participate in an on-call rotation and help respond to production incidents when needed.
Improve the performance, scalability, and maintainability of frontend and backend systems.
Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining ownership of quality, correctness, and outcomes.
Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-impact features across the stack.
Own problems end-to-end, from shaping ambiguous requirements through to production-ready solutions.
Help define and evolve architecture across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
Mentor engineers and contribute to raising the technical bar across the team.

Requirements

5+ years of experience building scalable fullstack applications in production environments.
Comfortable working across frontend and backend technologies and understanding their integration for reliable products.
Experience with APIs, distributed systems, and modern web application architecture.
Takes ownership of software from implementation through production health and ongoing improvements.
Experience designing systems and influencing technical direction.
Communicates clearly and effectively through documentation and collaboration in distributed teams.
Writes clean, maintainable code that enables others to build with confidence.
Uses AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully and validates outputs with sound engineering judgment.
Navigates ambiguity with confidence and makes thoughtful trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
Enjoys mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and helping teammates grow.
Curious, proactive, and motivated by continuous learning and experimentation.
