About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will develop the mechanical hardware for energy storage products, from concept and CAD modeling to prototype builds, testing, validation, and production release. This hands-on role involves designing, building, testing, and refining products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, production-ready designs.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using a parametric CAD platform
- Develop mechanical components and assemblies for injection-molded, die-cast, and sheet metal applications
- Build and test prototypes, collect performance data, and improve designs based on real-world testing
- Design product enclosures, mechanical packaging, and thermal management solutions for electronics
- Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and select appropriate materials
- Design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA)
- Prepare engineering release packages including drawings, BOMs, and ECOs
- Design fixtures, tooling, and test equipment
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Support UL and other product certification efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 3–5 years of experience taking products from concept through production
- Experience with Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar CAD software
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Hands-on experience building and testing prototypes
- Experience with electronics packaging and thermal management
- Knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal, material selection, DFM/DFA
- Strong engineering documentation and communication skills
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Battery energy storage or power electronics experience
- Experience with UL-regulated products
- FEA (structural and/or thermal) experience
- Sheet metal design experience
- Knowledge of cosmetic finishes
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems and ECO/ECN processes
- Experience designing test fixtures
