About the Role
The Assistant Director of Nursing Services works in conjunction with the Director of Nursing Services in managing Nursing Services. This role supervises Nursing Supervisors and has primary responsibility for staff performance, quality assurance, MDS data entry, nursing staffing, payroll preparation, resident incident reporting, and liaison for Hospice Care and managed care organizations.
Responsibilities
- Active role in identifying and addressing quality issues, and implementing corrective action and plan as necessary.
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other Facility departments, to assure that the departmental services and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of residents/patients.
- Supports and maintains Nursing Services objectives and standards.
- Assist with implementing and coordinating Departmental policies, procedure and job descriptions.
- Interprets Department policies and procedures to staff, resident/patients, visitors, etc., as necessary.
- Ensures that resident/patients rights are maintained.
- Participates in programs designed for in-service education and orientation classes for new Nursing Department hirees, as well as ongoing in-service education programs.
Requirements
- Must have a minimum of (5) years experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related health facility.
- New York State Licensed Professional Nurse.
- PRI Certified.
- MDS Knowledge.
- Care Planning and Assessment knowledge.
- Knowledge of performance improvement activities and data collection.
