About the Role

The Learning Experience – Tuckahoe is seeking an experienced Lead Early Childhood Teacher to guide their Young Toddler (Twaddler) classroom. This role offers an opportunity for an educator passionate about helping children transition into a more independent, language-rich learning environment. The Lead Teacher will create engaging experiences that encourage exploration, communication, social-emotional development, and early school readiness, while also mentoring Assistant Teachers and building strong partnerships with families.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operation of the Young Toddler classroom using The Learning Experience's proprietary L.E.A.P. Curriculum
  • Plan engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that foster language, cognitive, physical, and social-emotional growth
  • Encourage independence through positive guidance, structured routines, and hands-on exploration
  • Create a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom where children feel confident and supported
  • Mentor and collaborate with Assistant Teachers to ensure a consistent, high-quality classroom experience
  • Build strong relationships with families through daily communication and developmental updates
  • Maintain compliance with all New York State and New York City licensing regulations and health and safety standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or High School Diploma with at least five years of relevant early childhood experience
  • Previous experience leading a toddler or young toddler classroom preferred
  • Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and classroom management skills
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Must meet all applicable New York State and New York City childcare licensing requirements
