About the Role
Waymo is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Manager to join its Business Development team. This role is crucial for planning the company's commercial future and driving its go-to-market strategy by identifying, negotiating, and executing first-of-kind agreements to expand Waymo's commercial deployment globally. The position acts as a bridge between Waymo's engineering and the physical world, building commercial networks to scale driverless technology.
Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and execute strategic commercial and technical partnerships with mobile network operators (MNOs) and other organizations across the telco ecosystem.
- Serve as the primary partnership manager for key telecom executives, driving joint business reviews, ongoing relationship health, and long-term co-innovation roadmaps.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Legal, and Finance to ensure technical feasibility and seamless operational deployment.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to identify strategic opportunities to advance fleet safety, reliability, and scalability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or corporate strategy.
- At least 3+ years specifically within the telecommunications, MNO, or connected vehicle/IoT ecosystem.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to translate complex engineering and product requirements into commercial contracts.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with a track record of influencing C-suite and VP-level executives both internally and externally.
- In-depth understanding of cellular technologies (5G, LTE, eSIM, private networks, edge computing) and carrier business models.
