About the Role
Our client is a large enterprise organization within the financial services sector that is investing heavily in the modernization of its Capital Markets technology platform. They are seeking a Sr. Java Developer to join a high-impact initiative supporting a Synthetic Trading business. The team is undergoing a significant technology transformation, replacing a legacy third-party platform with a modern, internally built solution designed to support critical trading operations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise-grade applications while gaining exposure to complex, high-performance trading systems in a dynamic financial services environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical Java-based applications supporting trading and Capital Markets functions.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and technology teams to deliver scalable solutions that meet business requirements.
- Participate in the full SDLC, including requirements gathering, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Framework technologies.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and deployment processes.
- Contribute to application modernization initiatives and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including spring planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution for business-critical applications.
- Ensure adherence to development standards, security requirements, and software engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software development experience with Java.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, etc.)
- Experience designing and developing enterprise-scale distributed systems.
- Strong experience building low-latency, multi-threaded applications.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and automation pipelines.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong knowledge of source control management tools such as Git.
- Previous experience within Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Trading, or Financial Services environments.
- Understanding of trading systems, financial products, market data, or related front-office technologies is highly desirable.
- Exposure to cloud technologies, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building and supporting microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of Synthetic Trading, Equities, Derivatives, or other Capital Markets products.
- Familiarity with messaging technologies and event-driven architectures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to delivering solutions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
