About the Role

Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families. This role involves monitoring patient conditions, updating care plans, and educating patients on their health needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the healthcare team.
  • Coordinates with other healthcare providers and confers with physicians.
  • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, and documenting their condition.
  • Teaches healthcare requirements by instructing patients and their families on their condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards and modifying care plans as needed.
  • Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards, organizational policies, and legal requirements.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and medication administration procedures.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential.
  • Keeps patient care equipment operating by following instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.
  • Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, and managing orders.
  • Improves nursing job knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to nursing and healthcare organization success by assisting colleagues with job results.

Requirements

  • Completion of a nursing program and active license.
  • Experience working in a clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA.
  • Ability to perform assessments and nursing functions as acquired in the basic nursing preparation program.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build comprehensive reports and effectively convey information to others.
