About the Role

Qrypt is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to develop the services powering their quantum security products. The role involves writing and shipping backend software, primarily in Rust, to manage quantum entropy and keys, support an entropy-as-a-service platform, and ensure reliable, scalable appliance operation. The engineer will utilize AI-assisted development tools and be responsible for the quality of their work.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and test backend services and APIs, primarily in Rust, with some C++ and Python.
Work on software that delivers quantum entropy and keys reliably and securely.
Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in design and code review.
Use AI-assisted and agentic development tooling to accelerate work while owning correctness and quality.
Help shape the team's adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
Develop an understanding of the domain (quantum random number generation, cryptography, network security) to build and validate products.
Collaborate with hardware, product, and other engineers to ship end-to-end solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, and/or relevant work experience.
3+ years building and shipping backend software.
Proficiency in Rust, or strong systems-programming experience (C, C++, Go) with a demonstrated ability and eagerness to work primarily in Rust.
Working familiarity with C++ and Python.
Solid grasp of backend fundamentals: APIs, services, concurrency, testing, and Linux.
Fluency with AI and agent-assisted development, and the judgment to apply it effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
