About the Role
As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Oneida Health's Outpatient Therapy office, you will work under the supervision and instruction of a qualified physical therapist, assisting with patient care tasks, setting up treatment areas and equipment, recording charges, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Candidates will receive on-the-job training.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for treatment and accompany them to treatment areas.
- Set up and maintain physical therapy treatment areas and equipment.
- Assist patients with exercise movements and changes in positions during treatment sessions.
- Record charges for each patient's billing and enter data into the computer system.
- Communicate regularly with appropriate staff regarding patient care and scheduling.
- Assist patients with their maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Clean, repair, and maintain physical therapy equipment and supplies.
- Help maintain inventory of physical therapy supplies and equipment.
- Observe patients for safety and comfort, notifying the Physical Therapist or Assistant of any changes in condition.
- Assist with restorative and rehabilitative treatments under the direction of the physical therapist or assistant.
- Maintain treatment plan records within Medicare guidelines.
- Assist with front desk tasks such as opening or closing the department, preparing schedules, answering phones, and maintaining business flow.
- Maintain statistics of patients, visits, and charges.
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the department.
Requirements
- 2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to assist patients with mobility and physical exercises.
- Stamina to perform tasks throughout the day.
- Manual dexterity for handling equipment and supplies.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks as needed in a healthcare environment.
