About the Role

WeaveGrid's clean energy SaaS products monitor and manage distributed energy resources like electric vehicles and battery storage systems for electric utilities. We are seeking a backend engineer to design, implement, and deploy software, contributing to technical direction and engineering quality. Your code will integrate with device APIs, monitor battery status, schedule charging, and ingest utility data.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce high quality code for robustness, testability, and maintainability.
  • Work with Python backend, relational database schemas, and microservice architecture.
  • Develop deep ownership of your area of work, including its long-term health, reliability, and technical debt.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders to design and deliver new, scalable product features.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve system reliability, data quality, effectiveness, and scalability.
  • Perform rollouts, instrumentation, alerting, and reliability monitoring in production.
  • Create new capabilities with new partners while reusing and generalizing existing modules.
  • Use Docker containers, Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub, Jira/Confluence, and CircleCI.
  • Participate in on-call rotations approximately once per quarter.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams across several codebases.
  • Contribute to team prioritization by identifying and proposing improvements.
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as designated.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex backend systems independently.
  • Proficiency in a language like Go or Python.
  • Expertise building microservices in a cloud-based backend.
  • Hands-on experience in the full lifecycle of software development: early design, testing, production deployment, post-launch iteration, measuring and monitoring outcomes, and quickly fixing problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment with shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to help others navigate ambiguity effectively.
  • Ability to critically evaluate and catch AI-generated errors or subtle incorrectness.
  • Enjoy solving hard technical problems and tackling complexity.
  • Ability to think in systems, independently scope and deliver end-to-end projects.
  • Understanding of how your work fits into the broader architecture.
  • Proactively surface and resolve ambiguity.
