About the Role

The Health Analytics Team at Humber River Hospital is seeking a Senior Clinical Analyst to join their team. This role focuses on using scientifically rigorous methods to conduct meaningful analyses, generating data-driven insights and recommendations to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and provider experience, while reducing costs and increasing efficiency. The analyst will support the Health Analytics Strategy, assist program areas with business needs related to health analytics, and contribute to program planning, market research, and proposals.

Responsibilities

Meet with clinicians and leaders to provide an overview of analytic capabilities and solicit user requests.
Attend program, review, utilization, and/or budget meetings to identify opportunities for analytics support.
Provide dedicated support to identified program areas, understanding their operations and identifying needs where health analytics can assist.
Support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, and/or outcome metrics.
Identify opportunities to automate data collection, tracking, trending, and reporting.
Evaluate the best mechanisms and solutions for health analytics at HRH.
Collect business requirements using techniques such as “Voice of the customer” to differentiate user requests from underlying business needs.
Translate business needs into operational requirements for analytics, such as reports and dashboards.
Document requirements in use case format and create process models using principles of human factors, design thinking, and usability heuristics.
Identify methodological approaches and required data for specific data science questions.
Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to identify analytic solutions and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance.
Act as a bridge between the business community and ICAT for analytics.
Produce high-quality ad hoc and standardized reports tailored to different end-users.
Pre-process raw data, including cleaning and merging data from multiple sources, and assess data quality.
Assist with writing project protocols, including data extraction, cleaning, predictive model, and validation plans.
Assist with writing code to implement final analytic solutions into production.
Write documentation and contribute to project repositories to ensure reproducibility.
Validate data collected and reported by the health analytics team.
Validate output tables, listings, or figures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Complete cleaning/consistency checks and other quality control measures for final analysis.
Critically evaluate and align data and output with business needs, decomposing high-level information and abstracting general understanding.
Write reports summarizing analysis in HTML, PDF, Microsoft Word, and/or Microsoft PowerPoint formats.
Prepare and present findings of analysis to program areas and leadership.
Perform and document analytic requirements for analytic solutions to be built by data engineers/developers, including interactive dashboards and reports with interactive visualizations.
Conduct exploratory and statistical analysis of data to assess the feasibility of new data science projects using R, Python, or other programming languages.
Coordinate and write business cases, understanding business needs, collaborating with finance/decision support for financial or staffing data, and providing data for review.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in health care, statistics/biostatistics, health informatics or related discipline required.
5 Years experience in healthcare required.
2-3 Years experience in analytics / using analytic tools required (e.g. SAS, R Studio, Tidyverse, etc.).
Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with leaders, physicians, inter-professional team members, and other stakeholders.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with demonstrated competency in information and communication technology.
Demonstrated excellent organizational and coordination skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demands.
Excellent organizational, critical appraisal and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High level of initiative and self-direction.
Excellent attendance and discipline free record is a requirement.
