About the Role

Dell Medical School, in conjunction with Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, is seeking Physician Assistants with cardiac critical care credentials to join the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to address the growing need for pediatric cardiac critical care in the region.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers on health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
• Document the delivery of cardiac critical health care and nursing processes in accordance with care standards and network nursing policy.
• Participate in the orientation and education of staff and students.
• Obtain cardiac critical care patient history and perform assessments via observation, interview, and examination.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies for cardiac critical care patients.
• Perform health assessments, screenings, and patient care.
• Provide direct treatment and management of cardiac critical care conditions through prescriptive authority or referral.
• Engage in discharge planning.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing.
• Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care.
• Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing.
• Experience caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Critical Care Unit.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
• Must present acceptable and original documents to prove identity and work authorization for the federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form by the third day of employment.
• Must complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form.
• Must present acceptable and original documents to prove identity and authorization to work in the United States.
