About the Role
The Payment Sales Consultant serves as a senior payments strategist, leading the end-to-end delivery of U.S. Bank's treasury and payment solutions while driving client growth, retention, and revenue expansion. This role acts as a trusted advisor, developing sales strategies, managing complex portfolios, mentoring team members, and delivering innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver year-over-year revenue growth, expand relationships, and minimize attrition through proactive account planning and executive multi-threading.
- Lead discovery conversations to understand client needs across liquidity and investments, receivables, payments, commercial cards, merchant services, and trade domains.
- Translate client needs into integrated, client-centric solutions by engaging product specialists and implementation teams.
- Serve as the single point of contact for payments strategy, ensuring consistency and clarity in client messaging.
- Structure and lead client discussions that align with business priorities and payment trends.
- Use tools like Deepening Dashboards and Salesforce to track engagement, pipeline, and solution design stages.
- Coordinate with ICG RMs to ensure seamless handoffs and shared visibility throughout the sales cycle.
- Act as a strategic advisor to ICG RMs by identifying and prioritizing payment opportunities within their portfolios.
- Provide insights on client segmentation, product fit, and revenue potential.
- Help ICG RMs focus on high-impact opportunities while maintaining visibility into all payment-related activities.
- Own the coordination of pricing across payment products (e.g., CPS, MPS, FX, Prepaid).
- Ensure pricing is competitive, bundled appropriately, and aligned with client value.
- Partner with product and finance teams to manage margin and profitability.
- Actively ensure compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in any required corporate and business line training in these areas.
- Follow account opening procedures and understand and follow internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes.
- Actively work with customers to understand each customer's normal account activity.
Requirements
- Strong relationship management and business development skills with a proven ability to deepen client relationships and drive revenue growth.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and consultative sales capabilities, enabling the delivery of strategic, client-centric solutions.
- Broad knowledge of banking products and services across treasury, payments, deposits, and commercial banking.
- Ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the organization to achieve client and business objectives.
- Exceptional written communication, executive presentation, and client-facing advisory skills.
- Deep Treasury Management expertise spanning liquidity and investments, receivables, payments, commercial cards, merchant services, and trade solutions.
- Trusted advisor recognized for translating complex business challenges into innovative payment and treasury strategies.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, and optimize client working capital through integrated financial solutions.
- Applicants must be able to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies.
